This year, the Grasse Institute of Perfumery we had the pleasure to launch our Fragrance Summer School / Scents of Provence. This course as been designed as a short (1 week) but intensive session, allowing the trainees to discover the wonderful landscapes of Haute Provence, the country of lavender, lavendin, sclary sage and everlasting.

From June 28th to July 2nd, our lecturer Marianne NAWROCKI was in Forcalquier, in the heart of Haute Provence for 1 week to learn to our trainees the raw materials focus on plants grown in Provence : lavender, lavendin….
Courses were take place in a modern lecture hall equipped with 20 consoles especially designed for sensory analysis and perfume creation.

In one week, our visitors discovered:

• Theorical foundation: Studies of the raw materials used in perfumery, focus on plants grown in Provence, genealogy.
• Practical work: Formulation from different raw materials and the studied accords, formulation of a perfume.
• Then our trainees also had the opportunity to visits to growers of lavender, lavendin and other plants harvested at this season in Provence.

So it was the perfect period for discover Lavender!
